Peter Obi and Senator Umeh formally join the ADC party in Anambra state

Former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has officially become a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State, finalizing his registration process in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, his hometown.

Senator Victor Umeh, who represents Anambra Central Senatorial District, has also formalized his membership with the ADC, receiving his membership card in Aguluzigbo, another town in Anaocha LGA.

Their registration was attended by prominent party stakeholders, including Senator Ben Obi, ADC National Organizing Secretary Chinedu Idigo, Hon. Afam Ogene, Peter Anekwe, and Professor Lilian Orogbu, among others.

Other notable attendees included the party's candidate for the November 2025 Anambra governorship election, John Nwosu, his running mate Dr. Ndubuisi Nwobu, as well as hundreds of party faithful and supporters.

Ahead of the registration exercise, a total of 48,900 membership cards were distributed to party leaders across the state's 21 local government areas, which will be further distributed to the 326 wards to facilitate grassroots mobilization.

Party leaders, speaking at the event, emphasized the need for an aggressive membership drive to bolster the ADC's structure and expressed support for Obi's 2027 presidential ambition.

Senator Umeh noted that Anambra has approximately 2.8 million registered voters and urged them to throw their weight behind Obi in the upcoming election.

The ADC's National Organizing Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, gave assurance that the national headquarters would provide additional membership cards to cater to the increasing number of prospective members.
