People's Democratic Party introduces digital enrollment system in Enugu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) embarked on a digital membership registration drive across Enugu State on Wednesday, as part of its efforts to revamp its membership base.

This initiative was launched in conjunction with a training session for registrars from all 260 wards in the state, with the aim of enhancing the party's membership database.

Enugu PDP Chairman, Hon. Steve Oruruo, underscored the significance of the e-registration exercise, citing its alignment with the latest electoral guidelines and its capacity to provide an accurate snapshot of the party's membership.

Oruruo expressed confidence that the exercise would yield a substantial turnout, stating "talk is cheap, but the reality check is that our people will be captured in their numbers," while also dismissing speculation about internal opposition within the party.

The Court of Appeal judgment, which resolved the party crisis, was highlighted by Oruruo as a validation of the state leadership, thereby rendering claims of factionalism null and void.

Oruruo allayed fears about the potential deregistration of the PDP, emphasizing that the online registration process ensures the party's compliance with the requirements set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for political parties.

He characterized party agitators as "hirelings trying to hijack powers for the APC," and reiterated the PDP's commitment to peace, dialogue, and compromise, while also revealing that negotiations are currently underway.

Oruruo affirmed that the PDP will persist in its pursuit of justice through the Supreme Court, regardless of the outcome of the ongoing negotiations, in order to safeguard the party's interests.

Despite attempts by opponents to undermine the party nationwide, the PDP is taking swift action to ensure that it fields candidates in the upcoming elections, according to Oruruo.
