PDP: Wike-supported Board of Trustees convenes to discuss appeal court ruling and other key issues

The Abdulrahman Mohammed-led Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees will convene on Wednesday to discuss the implications of the Court of Appeal Judgement delivered on Monday, which nullified the party's national convention held in Ibadan on November 15 and 16, 2025.

This development comes after the Appellate Court in Abuja ruled that the party had erred in proceeding with the convention despite a pending court order that had not been complied with.

According to the BoT Chairman, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, the meeting will take place at No. 1, Sabo Ago Street, Life Camp, Abuja, at 2:00 p.m., and he emphasized that this BoT, established by the Abdulrahman/Anyanwu-led National Caretaker Working Committee, is the only recognized one, as per the Federal High Court decision and ratified by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

Ohuabunwa cautioned party members to disregard any other notices claiming to convene a BoT meeting, and he also stated that only duly notified BoT members will be accredited to attend, advising non-members to avoid the venue.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed his support for the Court of Appeal judgement, hailing it as a "victory for the rule of law" and urging party members to set aside their differences, cease litigation, and work towards reconciliation.

Wike also warned that taking the matter to the Supreme Court could be detrimental to the party, particularly with party primaries scheduled for April and May, and he advised against pursuing further litigation.

In contrast, the Tanimu Turaki-led NWC has announced its intention to challenge the Court of Appeal judgement at the Supreme Court, with its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, stating that "the battle is not over" and emphasizing the need for the apex court to provide a conclusive ruling on the matter.
