PDP primaries more credible than 'backroom deals' of rival parties, says Jang

Senator Jonah David Jang, a former Governor of Plateau State and respected elder statesman, has praised the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for conducting credible, transparent, and democratic primary elections, which he notes are a stark contrast to the undemocratic practices of other parties, where "results were written in hotel rooms".

This assessment was made in a statement released on Friday by Jang's Media Consultant, Comrade Clinton Garuba, in which the former governor commended the PDP for the successful nationwide primaries, particularly in Plateau State, where Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs was chosen as the party's governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The former governor attributed the smooth execution of the primaries to the high level of organisation, unity, and internal democracy within the PDP, highlighting the party's commitment to democratic principles.

Jang noted that the difference between the PDP's primary elections and those of other parties was "like night and day", with the PDP allowing members' wishes to prevail through a transparent process, while other parties resorted to imposition and impunity.

The elder statesman emphasized that the PDP has once again demonstrated its dedication to democratic ideals and the supremacy of the people's mandate, allowing the will of the members to shape the outcome of the elections.

Jang also cautioned individuals claiming to be factional members of the PDP in Plateau State to refrain from engaging in activities that could destabilize the party, stressing that the PDP in the state remains united under the leadership of Chief Raymond Dabo.
