PDP faction under Turaki to petition Supreme Court against Appeal Court verdict

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, under the leadership of Kabiru Turaki, has voiced its opposition to the Court of Appeal's judgment that invalidated the party's national convention, which took place on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Mr Ini Ememobong, spokesperson for the Turaki faction, revealed in a statement that the party's legal team has been instructed to appeal the ruling at the Supreme Court, citing the potential for significant hardship for party members if the judgment is implemented.

Ememobong emphasized that the faction believes the judgment's implementation would inevitably lead to substantial difficulties for its members, stating that "the operationalisation of this judgment will, without fail, impose untold hardship on our members."

In response, the party has directed its lawyers to take immediate action and appeal to the Supreme Court for a final decision on the matter, while also consulting with key party organs to determine the best course of action.

Ememobong expressed confidence that the Supreme Court would promptly resolve the dispute in a manner that supports democratic principles, and he urged party members to remain united and assured them that the legal issue would be resolved soon.

According to Ememobong, the party must be "rescued from the hands of those masquerading as opposition leaders," emphasizing the need for the PDP to overcome its current challenges.
