Two suspects arrested in connection with the killing of a 300-level Biochemistry student of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, have been handed over to law enforcement authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.

‎The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, disclosed this Friday during a condolence visit by the university management to the family of the deceased student, Mr. David Ocholi Solomon, at their residence.

‎According to the Vice-Chancellor, the suspects were apprehended by the university’s internal security operatives within two hours of the incident before being transferred to relevant security agencies to continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.

‎Professor Usman assured the bereaved family that the university would closely monitor the case and collaborate with security agencies to ensure that everyone found culpable at the conclusion of investigations is brought to justice.

‎He described the killing as a tragic development that has thrown the university community into mourning, noting that the institution remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at uncovering the full details behind the incident.

‎The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the university’s zero-tolerance stance against cultism, violence and other criminal activities, stressing that management had strengthened security measures across the campus and surrounding communities to forestall future occurrences.

‎He said additional security reforms would be introduced in the coming days as part of efforts to improve safety for students, staff and visitors.

‎Professor Usman also appealed to members of the public and the deceased’s family to support ongoing investigations with any useful information that could assist security agencies in establishing the facts of the case.

‎He expressed confidence that due process would be followed in the investigation and prosecution of the suspects.

‎Responding on behalf of the family, the father of the deceased, Mr. Solomon Idachaba, commended the university for its swift response following the incident and expressed hope that justice would be served through the ongoing investigation.
