Oyo State Assembly Leader Enters Contest for Governor in 2027 Election

Adebo Ogundoyin, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, has formally entered the 2027 governorship race in the state, marking a significant development in the political landscape.

Ogundoyin's candidacy was endorsed by stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ibarapaland, as announced in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Oyetunji Oyekunle, on Sunday.

The endorsement was a direct outcome of a zonal meeting held in Igboora, where preparations for a planned visit by Governor Seyi Makinde were discussed, and a vote of confidence was passed in Ogundoyin.

During the meeting, stakeholders praised Ogundoyin's exemplary leadership qualities, his unwavering loyalty to the party, and his invaluable contributions to maintaining legislative stability in the state.

The stakeholders also urged Ogundoyin to officially announce his intention to run in the 2027 governorship election, while assuring him of their unwavering support throughout the campaign.

In response to the endorsement, Ogundoyin, who represents the Ibarapa East Constituency, expressed his heartfelt gratitude, describing the nod as both an honour and a significant responsibility.

According to Ogundoyin, the endorsement signifies a call to action for fostering inclusive governance, unity, and sustained development across the state, underscoring his commitment to the welfare of the people.

The meeting, which culminated in Ogundoyin's endorsement, was attended by an array of prominent party leaders, government officials, and grassroots politicians, including Anthony Adepoju, a member of the House of Representatives.

Other notable attendees included state commissioners Ademola Ojo and Wasilat Adegoke, who were joined by local government chairmen such as Kazeem Arogundade, Lateef Akorede, and Olusola Adeleke, representing Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North, and Ibarapa Central, respectively.
