Oyo APC targets one million votes for Tinubu, government house in 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has declared its ambition to deliver one million votes for President Bola Tinubu and reclaim the state’s Government House in the 2027 general elections.

To achieve the goal, the party on Wednesday inaugurated a high-powered reconciliation committee to resolve internal grievances and strengthen unity ahead of the polls.

Speaking at the inauguration at the APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, the state chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo, said the reconciliation initiative became necessary following grievances arising from the party’s congresses, which produced executive committee members at various levels, and the recent primary elections.

According to him, the party is determined to prevent the disagreements from escalating into a crisis that could undermine its electoral chances.

“We are aware that the outcome of the last congresses and the recent primaries left some members and stakeholders aggrieved. However, we do not want this to snowball into an intractable crisis capable of undermining our chances at the polls. We are ready to engage with aggrieved members and address their concerns,” Adeyemo said.

He urged members of the reconciliation committee to deploy their experience and goodwill in fostering lasting peace and strengthening party unity.

Adeyemo expressed confidence that the committee would deliver on its mandate within the next few weeks, stressing that the APC could not afford to take anything for granted despite its status as a major political party.

“With the calibre of people on this committee, we are confident that you will do a thorough job and achieve the desired results because we want absolute peace and unity to prevail in Oyo APC before, during and after the elections.

“Our goal is to deliver one million votes to President Bola Tinubu and reclaim the Agodi Government House in 2027,” he said.

In their separate acceptance speeches, the Chairman of the Reconciliation Committee, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, and the Co-chairman, Professor Taoreed Adedoja, assured party members that all grievances would be fairly addressed.

They pledged that no aggrieved aspirant or stakeholder would be excluded from the reconciliation process and commended the state executive committee for setting up the panel.

The committee, they said, would work towards restoring confidence, strengthening internal cohesion and positioning the APC for victory in the 2027 general elections.

Other members of the committee include Senator Brimo Yusuf, Chief Akin Oke, Senator Hosea Agboola, Mrs Kemi Alao-Akala, Hon. Niran Alarape, Hon. Olagunju Ojo, Dr Adebayo Adewusi, Pa Timothy Jolaoso, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi, Engineer Idris Adeoye, Alhaji Isiaka Alimi, Aare Abisoye Fagade, Dr Adekemi Opatunde, Engineer Dayo Lawal, Chief Goke Oyetunji, Alhaji Mufutau Adisa, Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe and Mrs Mabel Williams, among others.
