Oyebanji's performance fails to meet the standards Ekiti residents had anticipated, says Oluyede

Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, has voiced his disappointment with Governor Biodun Oyebanji's administration, stating that it has failed to provide the people with meaningful dividends of democracy. The PDP flagbearer made this statement through his Special Adviser on Media, Gani Salau, on Wednesday.

The current administration, according to Oluyede, has not effectively utilized the available resources to implement visible and impactful development projects in the state. This has led to a lack of tangible development, despite the resources at the state's disposal.

Oluyede expressed concern over Governor Oyebanji's frequent visits to President Bola Tinubu, which have not resulted in noticeable benefits for the residents of Ekiti. He emphasized that these visits have not led to any significant improvements in the state.

Oluyede stated that governance is not merely about taking photographs, and leadership should not be measured by the number of times a governor appears in pictures with the President. He noted that the people of Ekiti cannot benefit from these photo opportunities in any tangible way.

The PDP candidate pointed out that other governors have successfully invited the President to commission completed projects in their states, whereas Ekiti has been limited to courtesy visits and photo opportunities without any corresponding development. This has resulted in a lack of significant projects in the state that would warrant presidential commissioning.

Oluyede mentioned that several governors across the country have attracted presidential visits for the commissioning of key infrastructure projects within similar timelines, citing states such as Ogun, Lagos, Enugu, Imo, and Kaduna. He noted that the absence of such project commissioning in Ekiti raises concerns about the utilization of state resources.

The PDP candidate emphasized that the people of Ekiti deserve to know how their resources are being utilized and that there must be accountability and transparency in governance. He stressed that leadership should focus on delivering measurable progress rather than just public relations.

Oluyede alleged that key sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment have not undergone the expected level of transformation under the current administration. Many communities in the state continue to struggle with poor road networks, limited access to quality healthcare, and inadequate economic opportunities.

He insisted that governance must be people-centred, focused on delivering sustainable development, and that the people of Ekiti deserve a government that prioritizes their welfare. Oluyede emphasized that public funds should be channelled into projects that have a direct impact on the daily lives of the residents.
