Owie pays tribute to late Mary Amaechi

Senator Rowland Owie KSJI JP, former Chief Whip of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has expressed profound sorrow at the passing of Mrs Mary Amaechi, the beloved mother of his brother Knight, His Excellency Rt Honourable Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi KSJI.

Mrs Amaechi passed away peacefully on Thursday, 16 July 2026, at the age of 89.

Senator Owie said: “I received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Mrs Mary Amaechi, a devout Christian, respected community leader and cherished matriarch whose life was marked by faith, sacrifice and selfless devotion to her family.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to my brother Knight, His Excellency Rt Honourable Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi KSJI, his wife, Dame Judith Amaechi, and the entire Amaechi family.

“As Brother Knights of the Knights of Saint John International, we are bound not only by fraternity and service, but also by a common faith in Christ and the certain hope of the resurrection.

“May the Blessed Virgin Mary wrap the entire Amaechi family in her blue mantle, console them in their grief and obtain for them the grace, courage and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

“I commend Mama Mary Amaechi to the infinite mercy of Almighty God. May the angels receive her, may perpetual light shine upon her, and may her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
