Ovie Omo-Agege Urges Unity, Forgiveness, and Embracing Diversity Among Delta State APC Members

Ovie Omo-Agege, the Former Deputy President of the Senate and Former Delta State APC gubernatorial candidate, has made a statement about healing and reconciliation, but this is merely a ploy to divert attention from his true intentions, which are deceptive, self-serving, and divisive.

His actions are a prime example of the "must win" political mentality that is detrimental to the nation, and he has enlisted the help of his minions to create a false narrative about the concentration of power in Delta State, specifically targeting the Okpe Clan.

According to his minions, the Governor of Delta State, an Okpe indigene, appointed the Orodje of Okpe as Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, and that the Senator representing Delta Central and the National Assembly member representing Okpe/Uvwie Federal constituency are also Okpe, in an attempt to manipulate the narrative.

However, it is essential to see through Omo-Agege's and his minions' allegations, which are cunning, fabricated, and designed to deceive, with the ultimate goal of injecting division into the electoral process and denying the Urhobos the right to choose their leaders in 2027.

To set the record straight, the Orodje of Okpe was appointed by Former Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the Chairman of Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers on January 25, 2022, a year and 4 months before Governor Oborevwori took office.

Additionally, Senator Dafinone won his Senate seat while Governor Oborevwori was still the PDP candidate for governor, and Mr. Etanabene, the representative for the Okpe/Uwvie Federal constituency, has no ties to the Governor, debunking Omo-Agege's claims.

Omo-Agege's history as the leader of APC is marked by his authoritarian style, which destroyed the unity and cohesiveness of the party, and as Deputy Senate President, he appointed his Chief of Staff, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, from his Orogun community, and picked his former political adviser, Elder Omeni Sobotie, as Delta APC chairman, from the same local government area.

He also took credit for making Ms. Stella Okotete, from the same local government area, the APC national woman leader, demonstrating a clear pattern of consolidation of power at any cost.

Omo-Agege's past actions, including his role in the 2011 Delta State gubernatorial rerun election, where he replaced the late Oguro-Olotu Felix Azorbor as the gubernatorial candidate for the Republican Party of Nigeria, showcase his divisive, selfish, and destructive tendencies.

He was also responsible for the failure of the 2019 APC campaign in the state and worked against the interests of the Urhobos, while publicly claiming to be their champion, and played a significant role in denying Chief Great Ogboru a ministerial position.

Furthermore, Omo-Agege was instrumental in the removal of Festus Keyamo as Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs and his subsequent reassignment to the Ministry of Labour, demonstrating his willingness to undermine the interests of others for personal gain.

His silence on the refusal to inaugurate late Comrade Frank Ovie Kokori as the Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) is also noteworthy, as he failed to support the late elder statesman despite being the then Deputy Senate President and an Urhobo.

During the last general election, Omo-Agege worked against the interests of the APC and President Tinubu, and his actions, including locking Delta State delegates in their hotel rooms and instructing them to vote for his preferred candidate, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, are well-documented.

It is also on record that Omo-Agege entered an unholy alliance with the Labour Party in Delta State, agreeing to mobilize his supporters to vote for Mr. Peter Obi in exchange for support for himself.

His actions during the senate president's election, where he secretly campaigned for Senator Yari despite publicly declaring support for Senator Godswill Akpabio, demonstrate his lack of faithfulness as a political leader.

Omo-Agege's desperate bid for power and his attempts to return to the senate will not be successful, as his true nature and modus operandi are well-known to the Urhobos and Deltans, who will not fall for his deceptive tactics.
