Outrage Over Justice Delay: Nigerians Urge Defence Minister to Intervene in Mark Chidera's Detention

Nigerian activists and netizens are rallying behind Mark Chidera, a popular content creator known as Justice Crack, as they call on Minister of Defence Christopher Musa to intervene in his alleged detention, which has sparked widespread reactions on social media.

Chidera, who has millions of followers across various social media channels, was last seen four days ago, and his wife has taken to social media to raise the alarm and appeal for help in locating him.

His last Instagram video, posted on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, discussed the death of National Youth Service Corps member Abdusallam, who was killed by a stray bullet during a robbery incident in Abuja, and expressed concerns over the country's insecurity.

In the video, Chidera also analysed the incident, referencing a WhatsApp message allegedly shared by a soldier, which included a photograph of a meal at a military camp, and highlighted the fears among citizens following the corps member's death.

According to family members and associates, Chidera told his wife he was attending an undisclosed meeting after receiving a phone call, and since then, his phones have been switched off, with all efforts to reach him proving unsuccessful.

Activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has called on the Nigerian Army to release Chidera immediately, alleging that his vehicle was spotted at the Defence Intelligence Agency premises and that he was picked up by a senior military officer.

Sowore claimed that Chidera's only "offence" was speaking out against the alleged extrajudicial killing of the corps member and highlighting the conditions faced by soldiers on the frontlines, and urged the army to release him.

Peter Ogbudu, a concerned citizen, has urged security agencies to ensure Chidera's prompt release, stressing that citizens must not be intimidated or silenced and that freedom of expression remains fundamental in a democracy.

Ogbudu noted that Chidera's last known location was around the NAOWA Shopping Complex before he went off the radar, and called on authorities to act swiftly if he is in their custody.

Another Facebook user, identified as Mr. Common Sense, has called for transparency regarding the circumstances surrounding Chidera's disappearance, insisting that if he is being held, the authorities should make the information public.
