Otti aims to finalize construction of state house infrastructure by the end of the year

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the new Governor’s Office and Official Residence construction in Umuahia, confirming the project is on schedule for completion by the end of 2026.

Otti made this statement during an inspection of the Government House complex on Saturday, where the project is being carried out as part of the administration’s efforts to modernise the seat of government.

Following his assessment of the work done, the governor praised Craneburg Construction Company, the contractor, for upholding quality standards and encouraged the firm to maintain the current pace to meet the project's completion target.

Detailed inspections of the facility were undertaken by Otti, who also received briefings from site engineers to ensure compliance with the approved project specifications.

The new Governor’s Office and Official Residence are components of a broader Government House renewal programme, aimed at upgrading public infrastructure and enhancing administrative efficiency.

Already completed projects within the Government House complex include the renovation of the Deputy Governor’s Office, the construction of a new Office of the Secretary to the State Government, and the remodelling of the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Protocol Building, and Banquet Hall.

Ongoing works include the construction of a modern Government House Clinic, a new Government House Gate, and various supporting facilities designed to improve the functionality and appearance of the state's administrative headquarters.

According to the state government, the renewal project is a key infrastructure initiative of the Otti administration, intended to provide modern public facilities and strengthen governance operations in Abia State.

Alex Otti assumed office on May 29, 2023, and has indicated his intention to seek re-election for a second term.

Recent endorsements for his re-election bid have come from various political figures, including Senator Emma Nwaka, a former Abia State Peoples Democratic Party chairman and current All Progressives Congress chieftain, who has publicly expressed support for the governor's continuation in office.
