Osun Election: I didn’t own house while serving as Osun governor — Aregbesola

By Shina Abubakar, Osogbo
nOSOGBO — National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has claimed that he did not own a personal house throughout his eight years as governor of Osun State.
nAregbesola made the claim while addressing supporters in a video that circulated online on Thursday.
nThe former governor said he lived in a friend’s house in the Amuta area of Ilesa during his tenure, challenging anyone with contrary information to prove otherwise.
n“I’m the first governor in Nigeria to govern a state for eight years without owning a house of my own. I stayed in my friend’s house for eight years as governor in my fatherland. Whoever says what I’m saying is not true should come out and show me the house I own,” he said.
nAregbesola governed Osun State from 2010 to 2018 before serving as Minister of Interior under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
nHe is currently leading the ADC governorship campaign in Osun State, following the grand opening of the party’s campaign in Ile-Ife on Tuesday.
