The President of the Traditional Religion Worshippers Association of Osun State (TRAWSO), Dr. Oluseyi Atanda, has called on political stakeholders and residents to work towards ensuring a peaceful, free and fair governorship election in the state on August 15.

Speaking with journalists at the TRAWSO State Secretariat in Osogbo on Tuesday, Atanda said the call followed a consultation by Ifa priests, during which guidance was sought ahead of the election.

According to him, the consultation emphasised the need for governorship candidates to avoid treating the election as a do-or-die affair and urged political actors to conduct themselves peacefully.

He said the message also encouraged politicians to prioritise the state’s development, act responsibly and consider the consequences of their actions.

Atanda called on all stakeholders, including politicians, traditional institutions and residents, to play active roles in ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process.

He further said the consultation expressed optimism about the future of the state, describing the incoming governor as someone who would demonstrate patience, tolerance and the ability to accommodate differing views.

He added that the consultation encouraged residents to remain hopeful and pray for a peaceful election free from violence.
