Ortom Rules Out 2027 Electoral Bid

Chief Samuel Ortom, the immediate past governor of Benue, has announced that he will not be seeking any elective position in the 2027 general elections, putting to rest speculation about his future plans.

This clarification was made in a statement released by Dr Terver Akase, Ortom's media adviser and consultant, which was made available to newsmen in Makurdi on Saturday.

Prior to this statement, social media reports had suggested that Ortom intended to run for the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in the 2027 elections, sparking widespread discussion.

Ortom was unequivocal in his denial, stating "I have no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027" and emphasizing that he had already made his position clear on multiple occasions.

He expressed his expectation that his straightforward statement would not be misinterpreted or require further explanation, given its clarity.

Ortom reiterated his commitment to upholding democratic principles, strengthening the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and providing guidance as a statesman, rather than pursuing elective office in 2027.

He urged the public to disregard the report as "a fabrication", emphasizing that it had no basis in fact.
