Opposition leaders’ visit to Kwankwaso aims to build unity against APC – Kwankwassiya member

KANO — A member of the Kwankwassiya Movement and former Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ibrahim Kofar-Mata, has described the recent visit by opposition leaders to former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as both political and social.

According to Dr. Kofar-Mata, the meeting was aimed at forming a united front to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu, while also reinforcing national unity.

The visit brought together opposition figures including former presidential candidate Peter Obi (representing the South-East and the ADC), Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State (South-West, PDP), and former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson (South-South, NDC), who traveled to Northern Nigeria to meet Kwankwaso, leader of the NNPP.

Dr. Kofar-Mata explained, “From our part, the visit was truly political and also emphasized the unity of one Nigeria. It had both political and social effects. Leaders from different regions came together to discuss how to address the failures of the APC administration, particularly in areas of security, employment, poverty reduction, and national unity.”

He added that the gathering demonstrated a collaborative approach among opposition parties from the North, South-East, South-West, and South-South, with the aim of protecting Nigeria’s democratic system and fostering national cohesion.

“Whether political or social, the most important aspect is that these leaders believe in one Nigeria and are committed to saving the democratic system of the country,” Dr. Kofar-Mata said.

The Kwankwassiya member indicated that further meetings were expected as opposition leaders continue to coordinate efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
