Ondo's Amotekun security outfit denies report of bandit raid, orders round-the-clock surveillance

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has advised residents to ignore reports of a bandit invasion and avoid circulating unverified information, according to a statement issued on Wednesday in Akure by Superintendent Jimoh Adeniken, the agency's Public Relations Officer.

Superintendent Adeniken clarified that there are no confirmed cases of bandit invasion or occupation in any part of the state, contradicting the rumors that are currently circulating.

Residents have been urged by Adeniken not to panic or spread unverified information that could create fear and unnecessary tension among the population, as the information being circulated about the presence of bandits in the Akure metropolis is false.

Citizens are encouraged to go about their daily activities and business engagements without fear, while remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies, Adeniken said.

Mr Adetunji Adeleye, the Amotekun Corps Commander in the state, has directed all area commanders, coordinators, and heads of tactical units to maintain 24-hour special patrols across the 18 local government areas of the state, according to the PRO.

The patrols will focus on schools, churches, public facilities, critical national assets, and other strategic locations to prevent and combat criminal activities, as instructed by the commander.

The Amotekun Corps reaffirms its commitment to protecting the people of Ondo State and maintaining a safe environment for residents and visitors, Adeniken stated.
