Omo-Agege Abandons APC, Vows Not to Be a Helpless Target

Ovie Omo-Agege, the former Deputy President of the Senate, has submitted his resignation to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing recent events within the party in Delta State as the reason for his departure.

On Thursday, May 22, 2026, a statement was released, signed by his Media Adviser, Sunday Areh, in which Omo-Agege explained that after consulting with his associates and supporters, he was convinced that his future and the interests of his constituents would be better served outside the APC.

In a letter addressed to the APC Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Omo-Agege expressed his decision to leave the party, stating: “I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria.”

Omo-Agege, who previously represented Delta Central Senatorial District and served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, expressed gratitude to the APC for the opportunities he had to serve in various capacities during his time with the party.

He also requested that his name be removed from all APC membership records and communication platforms, ensuring a complete separation from the party.

Despite his departure from the APC, Omo-Agege assured his supporters that he remains committed to the development of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria, and will continue to be active in political engagement and representation outside of the APC.
