Ogun State sees 17 motorists found guilty by special judicial unit operating on wheels

A total of 17 traffic offenders were convicted on Wednesday by a Mobile Court in Ogere, Ogun State, as part of the Federal Road Safety Corps' intensified efforts to enforce traffic laws along major routes, with the court session presided over by Magistrate O.S. Fadahunsi.

The court tried and convicted all 17 offenders brought before it, with no acquittals recorded, and a total of 30 traffic offences were established during the session.

According to the Ogun State FRSC Command, 28 of the offences attracted fines, with the Command stating through its Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Route Commander Odunsi Afolabi, that there were no discharges.

The Mobile Court session's outcome was summarized by the Command as 30 offences recorded, 17 convictions, and 28 fines imposed.

Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, the Sector Commander, emphasized the importance of sustained enforcement in curbing road accidents, particularly along the busy Ogere corridor.

Fasakin stressed that strict enforcement of traffic laws is crucial for reducing road crashes and ensuring the free flow of traffic, while also warning motorists against violating traffic regulations.

The Corps Commander noted that the Federal Road Safety Corps would continue to prosecute offenders, serving as a deterrent to potential traffic violators.

Assistant Corps Commander Clement Akpenwuan, the Unit Commander, cautioned that the consequences of traffic violations extend far beyond individual offenders, affecting families and the government as well.
