Ogun State Law Enforcement Launch "Operation Kosaye", Detain 43 Alleged Offenders

The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of 43 suspected criminals in a late-night raid on a notorious hideout in the Isheri-Olofin area, courtesy of Operation Kosaye, with the operation yielding 28 males and 15 females.

These suspects were apprehended by the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit at around 11:00 p.m. on July 7, 2026, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, specifically opposite the Kara Cattle Market.

During the raid, police recovered various items, including substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other hard drugs, as well as 10 mobile phones, four power banks, and a cross-body bag containing two ATM cards and a National Identity Card.

According to DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence that the location had become a hub for cultists, drug users, and other criminal elements.

CSP Murphy, the Commander of the SWAT Unit, swiftly deployed operatives to the area, resulting in the successful arrest of the 43 suspects, who have since been arraigned before a competent court and remanded in a correctional facility.

The suspects are facing numerous charges, including criminal conspiracy, membership of an unlawful society, and unlawful possession and use of suspected cannabis, among other offences under Ogun State laws.

Some of the suspects are cooperating with investigators, providing valuable information that could lead to the arrest of other members of criminal networks operating in the area.

The latest prosecution brings the total number of suspects charged to court since the commencement of Operation Kosaye to 76, comprising 33 suspects from the initial phase and the additional 43 suspects from the recent raid.

CP Bode Ojajuni, the Commissioner of Police, commended the SWAT operatives for their professionalism and operational effectiveness, stating that the success of the operation marks a significant milestone in the implementation of Operation Kosaye.

Ojajuni reaffirmed the Command's commitment to intelligence-led policing and strategic community partnerships, urging residents to remain vigilant and support the police with timely information.

The Police Command appealed to the public to report suspicious persons and activities through its emergency response channels, assuring prompt action on all credible information received.
