Ogogo’s family to conduct 40th day prayer for late actor

Kira Taiwo, daughter of late veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced a 40th day prayer gathering in honour of her father.

Kira made the announcement Wednesday on Instagram, inviting family members, friends and well-wishers to the prayer session scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026.

The gathering will begin at 12 noon at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, where Ogogo was buried on August 24 following his death at the age of 66.

The invitation poster featured a portrait of the late actor and carried the inscription: “You are invited to the 40 days prayer for Alh. Al-Hassan Babatunde Taiwo ‘Ogogo.’”

The event is expected to bring together members of Ogogo’s family, friends, colleagues and associates as they continue to honour the veteran actor’s memory and legacy.

Ogogo died on August 23, 2026, after a career spanning more than four decades in the Yoruba film industry.

The prayer session comes 40 days after the actor’s death in accordance with Islamic tradition.
