Nwoko Claims Victory Over Okowa in 97 Wards, Informing APC

Spearheading a call to action, Senator Ned Nwoko has implored the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to safeguard the mandate bestowed upon him by party members in the Delta North Senatorial District, emphasizing his decisive victory over former Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, in 97 of the 98 wards during the party's senatorial primary election.

Through a statement issued by his Media Office in Abuja, Nwoko urged the APC National Working Committee and the party's leadership to withstand any pressure that may be exerted to overturn the outcome of the primary election, which he claimed to have won by a substantial margin, garnering approximately 123,000 votes to Okowa's 6,000.

Nwoko maintained that any attempt to subvert the will of party members who participated in the exercise would be tantamount to disregarding their democratic rights, potentially compromising the party's fortunes in the district, and warned that such actions could erode the confidence of party members and supporters who believe in the democratic process.

He argued that overturning the mandate given to him by APC members would be an affront to their wishes and sensibilities, emphasizing that the party's leadership must protect the integrity of the primary election process and respect the mandate freely given to him by party members across Delta North.

Nwoko also claimed that the outcome of the primary election could be independently verified through extensive video evidence obtained from the wards where the exercise was conducted, highlighting the credibility of these recordings over allegedly concocted figures.

He queried the authenticity of figures allegedly manipulated by a panel appointed by the governor, who is openly backing Okowa, and instead pointed to the overwhelming evidence of his victory in 97 of the 98 wards, supported by video evidence from across the district.

Nwoko urged the APC leadership to ensure that justice is done and seen to be done, by upholding the integrity of the primary election process and respecting the mandate given to him by party members, while also rejecting Okowa's declaration of victory as premature and contrary to established party procedures.

He recalled that the APC National Organising Secretary had outlined the official process for the collation and declaration of results, which includes ward collation, local government area collation, constituency collation, and final submission to the party's National Headquarters, emphasizing that any premature declaration of victory is an attempt to influence public perception ahead of the completion of due process.

Nwoko argued that his support from APC members reflects their confidence in his legislative performance and his commitment to advancing the interests of Delta North, particularly his advocacy for the creation of Anioma State, and highlighted his longstanding commitment to the APC, having joined and worked for the party before Okowa's defection from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Expressing confidence in the APC national leadership, Nwoko stated that the future of the party in Delta North depends on the confidence of its members that their votes count and that their voices will not be silenced by political manipulation, trusting that the National Leadership will uphold the truth and affirm the mandate freely given to him by APC members across Delta North.
