Notorious abduction ringleader 'Osisikanku' offered me N50m to secure his freedom, claims Amoke, the soldier responsible for capturing him

A soldier, Amoke Gunshot Simeon, who served in Abia state during the reign of terror kingpin 'Osisikankwu', whose real name is Obioma Nwankwo, has recounted his experiences in the state.

Obioma Nwankwo, also known as 'Osisikankwu', was the leader of a kidnap gang that terrorised Aba and its environs from 2008 to 2010, holding the town captive and kidnapping residents and visitors, until he was arrested in 2010 by Amoke.

During a visit to Governor Alex Otti at his country home in Umuehim Umuru Nvosi, in Isiala Ngwa South council area, Amoke narrated how 'Osisikankwu' promised to pay him N50 million to allow him to continue his terror activities around Aba and environs.

Amoke, a staff sergeant who now walks with the aid of crutches due to an auto accident he had while serving in the North East zone, stated that he and his colleagues chose to work for the peace and security of Abia state, declining to compromise their military oath.

The soldier, who hails from Nsukka in Enugu State and served in Abia between 2010 and 2014, led the troops that ended the reign of 'Osisikankwu' in Aba in 2010.

Governor Otti offered to fly Amoke overseas for medical attention, sponsored by the state government, to ensure he regains good health.

Amoke recounted how he and his colleagues ended the reign of the terror kingpin, stating that he was on a general patrol in Abia State and was the officer promised money by the kidnappers.

He noted that his team's role was to track kidnappers and criminals to make the state safe and peaceful, and that they achieved victory by eliminating 'Osisikankwu' and dislodging his terror group.

Amoke expressed his gratitude to Governor Otti, describing him as a very good Governor who gave him a listening ear.

He noted that honesty pays, citing himself as a living proof, and that his good work in Abia State is now paying off, giving him joy and happiness.

Amoke stated that if he had accepted the criminals' offer, he would not have a good name in Abia State, but instead, he is now proud and happy for Governor Otti's kindness.

The soldier revealed that he was involved in a motor accident while in active duty in the North East, which left him with fractured legs.

Amoke, who appeared in crutches, commended Governor Otti for offering to fly him abroad for proper medical attention, saying that it will motivate other military men in Abia State to do their job without being swayed by money.

He expressed his gratitude to Abia state for remembering him through Governor Otti, who has promised to fund his treatment abroad and help him recover.
