NNPCL Pledges to Make a Difference in the Lives of Over 200 Million Nigerians

The NNPC Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to improving lives across Nigeria, stating that its success is measured not only by oil production but also by the number of people positively impacted.

Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, made this known during the commissioning and handover of three rehabilitated hospital wards at the National Orthopaedic Hospital Igbobi. The project, executed by the NNPC Foundation, delivered over 100-bed capacity in Lagos.

Ojulari, who was represented by the company’s Chief Financial Officer, Adedapo Segun, said the organisation remains focused on building strategic partnerships and maintaining cost efficiency to deliver measurable outcomes.

“We are committed to delivering tangible results that Nigerians can see and feel, such as the rehabilitated health facilities commissioned today,” he said.

He noted that the company is aligning its operations with national priorities, including increased oil production, revealing that its exploration arm recorded about 355,000 barrels per day in the fourth quarter of 2025.

According to him, NNPC Ltd is also expanding investments in deep offshore exploration and advancing gas utilisation for both domestic and international markets, while strengthening operations across the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors.

Ojulari added that through its foundation, the company has made significant social impact nationwide, including youth empowerment initiatives, agricultural support to enhance food security, and infrastructure development projects.

Highlighting challenges in Nigeria’s health sector, he cited issues such as brain drain, inadequate infrastructure, and limited medical resources, noting that the intervention at the Igbobi hospital was aimed at improving patient care.

He said the renovated wards — G, H, and J — were completed within 12 months and designed to provide a conducive environment for both patients and healthcare workers.

Also speaking, Executive Vice President, Business Services at NNPC Ltd, Sophia A. Mbakwe, said the foundation’s interventions align with global Sustainable Development Goals and Environmental, Social, and Governance standards.

She noted that recent initiatives span healthcare, education, environment, agriculture, youth empowerment, and humanitarian support across communities.

Managing Director of the foundation, Emmanuella N. Arukwe, said the project was undertaken to address the deteriorating state of facilities at the hospital and improve conditions for both patients and staff.
