Nigeria's safety is a collective duty, not the burden of a single individual, says Tinubu

Vice President Shettima, Sultan of Sokoto, Christian Association of Nigeria, Catholic Bishops of Nigeria, state governors, and other prominent Nigerians called for peaceful co-existence as the nation celebrates Eid-el-Fitr, emphasizing the need for continued piety, compassion, and social responsibility.

President Tinubu urged citizens to embody the lessons of patience, tolerance, and neighbourliness drawn from Ramadan and Lent, stressing that the stability, peace, and security of the nation is a collective responsibility.

He emphasized the importance of charity and kindness, saying that these values should extend beyond the fasting period, and encouraged citizens to assist the needy and help the vulnerable.

Vice President Shettima reassured Nigerians that the government is committed to tackling insecurity, and called for unity among citizens, stating that national progress is inseparable from peace.

Sultan Abubakar emphasized the need for citizens to rise above religious, ethnic, and political differences, and to sustain the lessons of Ramadan, including sacrifice, tolerance, discipline, and compassion, as guiding principles for daily living.

He stressed that the essence of Ramadan is to build a society anchored on peace, mutual respect, and understanding, and urged Nigerians to continue living together in harmony and upholding the values that bind them as one people.

Christian Association of Nigeria President, Daniel Okoh, called for a reset of the national conscience, emphasizing that Nigeria's strength lies in unity, and that division along religious or ethnic lines would only deepen the country's problems.

He urged Nigerians to stand together, united by a common purpose and a shared future, and to reject division, choosing instead to act in ways that heal rather than harm.

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria emphasized the importance of sacrifice, solidarity with the poor, forgiveness, and reverence for God, as essential for national renewal and healing.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma commended Muslim faithful for their dedication, discipline, and resilience throughout Ramadan, and prayed that God would continue to guide and strengthen them in righteousness.

Abia State Governor Alex Otti urged Muslims to fully embrace the essence of Eid-el-Fitr, strengthening their relationship with Allah and upholding virtues that promote peace, unity, and harmony within society.

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia called on Muslim faithful to continue upholding the tenets of unity and peace, and to imbibe the spiritual lessons and blessings of Ramadan in their daily lives.

Senator Nenadi Usman, Labour Party National Chairman, urged Nigerians to use Eid-el-Fitr as a moment for sober reflection on the state of the country, and to contribute their quota towards building a better future.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) acknowledged the difficulties faced by many Nigerians, but expressed confidence that the situation would not last, urging people to hold on to faith, resilience, and unity.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan described Eid al-Fitr as a significant spiritual milestone, symbolizing sacrifice, devotion, and submission to Allah's will, and emphasized the need to sustain virtues of patience, generosity, and selflessness.

She urged constituents to pray for peace, stability, and development in Kogi State and Nigeria, noting that unity is key to progress.
