Nigeria's Osimhen and Lookman to Miss Upcoming Exhibition Matches Against Poland and Portugal

Nigeria's Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has revealed the reasons behind the omission of key forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman from the squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Portugal, scheduled for Wednesday in Warsaw and June 10 in Leiria, respectively.

Initially, both Osimhen and Lookman were included in Chelle's squad when it was announced two weeks ago, but they will now be absent from the fixtures due to different circumstances.

According to Chelle, Osimhen has been left out to concentrate on resolving his club future, while Lookman has been excused at the request of his club, Atletico Madrid.

Chelle explained that Osimhen's potential club change necessitates his absence, as playing while not at full strength would be detrimental, and Lookman is exhausted, prompting Atletico Madrid to request his exclusion.

The Malian coach stated, "We miss two players because Victor Osimhen maybe he is about to change club so I prefer he stays at home because if he plays and is not at 100 percent is not good," and "For Lookman he is very tired and Atletico ask us to excuse him."

The absence of Osimhen and Lookman follows Nigeria's recent success at the Unity Cup in London, where the Super Eagles emerged victorious, defeating Jamaica's Reggae Boyz 3-0 in the final on Saturday.

With the two attacking stars unavailable, Chelle will now rely on other squad members as Nigeria continues to prepare for upcoming competitive fixtures.
