Northern Governors, represented by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, attended the funeral prayer of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai, at the National Mosque in Abuja on Sunday.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who is also the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, conveyed his deep sorrow and commiserated with Malam Nasir and the entire El-Rufai family over the loss of Hajiya Umma.

The demise of a mother is a profound and irreplaceable loss, according to Governor Inuwa Yahaya, leaving an enduring void in the hearts of her children and loved ones.

Governor Yahaya paid tribute to the late Hajiya Umma, describing her life as characterized by humility, compassion, and strong moral values, and noting that she nurtured a family grounded in discipline and service.

On behalf of the Government and people of Gombe State and the Northern states Governors’ Forum, Governor Yahaya extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, urging them to find solace in the exemplary life she lived and the positive legacy she left behind.

Governor Yahaya prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive Hajiya Umma's shortcomings, reward her good deeds, and grant her Aljannat Firdaus.

Dignitaries in attendance at the funeral service included the 16th Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sunusi, and Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

Other notable attendees included National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
