Nigerian Leader from Zamfara Joins Tinubu on Landmark Diplomatic Trip to the United Kingdom

Governor Dauda Lawal has been chosen to join President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on a historic State Visit to the United Kingdom, a trip that promises to be a significant diplomatic engagement.

The presidential party, which includes the First Lady and other high-ranking officials, is set to depart from Abuja on Tuesday, bound for the United Kingdom.

A statement issued by Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson for the Zamfara Governor, revealed that King Charles will play host to President Tinubu, his wife, and their entourage at Windsor Castle from Wednesday, March 18, to Thursday, March 19.

According to the statement, Governor Dauda Lawal will be part of President Tinubu's entourage during the state visit, which is scheduled to take place on March 18 and 19, 2026.

The primary objective of the state visit, as outlined by the presidency, is to bolster bilateral relations and identify potential areas of collaboration in key sectors such as immigration, trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

During their stay at Windsor Castle, President Tinubu, the First Lady, and their entourage will be treated to a special viewing of Royal Collection items related to Nigeria, courtesy of Their Majesties.

In the evening, the Royal Family will host a State Banquet in honour of the Nigerian delegation, a gesture that underscores the significance of the state visit.

President Tinubu is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Keir Starmer, which will pave the way for expanded bilateral discussions and ultimately lead to the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on trade, investment, defence, and cultural cooperation.

The President will also serve as the guest of honour at the Nigerian Modernism exhibition, which showcases modern art and culture, and will participate in a reception with Nigerian and British business leaders as well as members of the diaspora community.
