Nigerian lawmakers from the North denounce deadly explosions in Maiduguri, offer support to those affected

Senators representing the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), united under the Northern Senators Forum (NSF), have denounced the devastating bomb blasts that struck Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday evening, following Iftar, resulting in a significant loss of life and numerous injuries.

In a statement released on Tuesday, NSF Chairman Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua expressed profound shock and sorrow over the tragic event, characterizing it as devastating.

The statement conveyed the senators' deep distress and sadness over the bomb explosions that ravaged Maiduguri on Monday evening, claiming precious lives and injuring many, as Yar’Adua emphasized the forum's solidarity with the affected community.

The senators offered their heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno State, pledging their unwavering support during this challenging time, with Yar’Adua assuring that the Federal Government would take all necessary measures to restore confidence in the city.

The Northern Senators Forum also extended prayers for the swift recovery of those injured and comfort for the families of the deceased, while urging Nigerians to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies in their pursuit of justice.
