Nigerian authorities praise secret police for apprehending individuals connected to kidnapping at Papiri school

The Northern Christian Association has praised the Department of State Services, under the leadership of Director General Oluwatosin Ajayi, for apprehending five suspects allegedly connected to the November 2025 kidnapping of students and staff from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State.

Rev. Joseph John Hayab, the association's Chairman, issued a statement on Monday, emphasizing that individuals with good intentions should recognize and appreciate the government's achievements, rather than solely criticizing its shortcomings.

According to Rev. Hayab, the arrest of those suspected of supplying arms to criminal elements highlights the significance of persistent intelligence gathering and coordinated security operations in addressing the country's insecurity.

He stressed that dismantling the networks that provide logistics and weapons to terrorists is crucial in reducing their capacity to carry out attacks on innocent citizens and vulnerable communities.

The NCA acknowledged the sacrifices of security personnel who continue to risk their lives, despite being frequent targets of terrorist attacks, and urged security agencies to conduct thorough investigations and bring all those connected to the crime to justice.

Rev. Hayab emphasized that accountability would serve as a deterrent to individuals and groups seeking to destabilize the country, and he encouraged security personnel to remain committed to protecting the nation.

He expressed confidence that sustained collaboration among security agencies, communities, and other stakeholders would help advance the collective goal of a peaceful, secure, and united Nigeria.

The NCA chairman called on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify their efforts against terrorism and other forms of violent crime, with the aim of restoring public confidence and strengthening national security.
