Nigeria has overcome financial struggles, governors no longer need loans to pay workers — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu declared on Monday night that Nigeria has successfully navigated its economic challenges under his leadership, with state governors no longer needing to secure loans from banks to pay their employees' salaries.

Tinubu made this statement while hosting a gathering of religious and traditional leaders for an interfaith breaking of the fast at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, as reported by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.

He pledged to capitalize on the opportunity to lead the country by maintaining the current trajectory of economic growth and prosperity, expressing his gratitude for the chance to serve and promising to faithfully discharge his duties.

According to Tinubu, the economy has shown significant improvement, with pensioners gradually receiving relief and the country having been saved from bankruptcy, which he noted was a daunting challenge when his administration first took office.

He proudly stated that the country has survived its economic struggles, and notably, no governor currently needs to borrow money from banks to pay the salaries of their workers.

Tinubu also assured Nigerians that the nation would not permit agents of instability to undermine its peace, unity, and sovereignty, acknowledging the vital role of religious and traditional leaders in promoting stability and moral guidance in communities.

The Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, expressed his appreciation to the President for hosting the interfaith breaking of the fast, which he believes symbolizes unity.

Representing the President, the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, and the Sultan of Sokoto, Mohammed Sa‘ad Abubakar III, the Etsu Nupe prayed for God's guidance, protection, and peaceful coexistence in the country, as well as for the President's success.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, represented by Archbishop Daniel Okoh and Dr Stephen Baba-Panya, President of The Evangelical Church Winning All, assured President Tinubu of the church's support for his administration's efforts to transform the economy and strengthen the country's security architecture.

Traditional rulers and religious leaders from all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria attended the event, demonstrating a strong show of unity and solidarity.
