New Onitsha Police Commissioner pledges to uphold honesty and dedication to duty

Newly promoted Area Commander of Police Area Command, Onitsha, Anambra State, Chidiebere Nzotta, has vowed to adhere to the fundamental principles of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, while maintaining integrity and fostering public trust in his duties, following his promotion to Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP.

Nzotta made this pledge during his vote of thanks after being decorated as DCP, having been promoted from Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, and stated that he would continue to uphold the core values of the Force and maintain integrity and build public trust throughout his remaining years in service.

Speaking on behalf of himself and Blessing Akuchi, also promoted to DCP, Nzotta noted that he would be guided by the principle that hard work attracts greater responsibility, and expressed gratitude for the promotion, stating that it was one of the happiest days of their lives.

According to Nzotta, the promotion was accepted with gratitude, and he thanked God for making it possible, while also acknowledging the Inspector-General of Police's statement that the reward for hard work is more work.

The decoration ceremony was held at the Zone 13 Command Headquarters, Ukpo, and was attended by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, Abayomi Oladipo, and the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, among other senior officers.

Nzotta expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission for deeming him and his colleague worthy of the promotion, and acknowledged the significance of the event.

Earlier, AIG Oladipo had charged the newly promoted officers to uphold professionalism, integrity, and discipline in their new ranks, describing their elevation as a call to greater service, and emphasizing that promotion comes with greater responsibility.

Oladipo added that the promotion was merit-based, reflecting the Command's commitment to boosting morale and enhancing operational efficiency through recognition of hard work and excellence, and stated that the promotion was well-deserved and underscored the commitment to rewarding dedication and strengthening service delivery.

The event was attended by Commissioners of Police from Anambra and Enugu states, senior officers, family members, and well-wishers, who gathered to celebrate the newly promoted officers.

In goodwill messages, the commissioners noted that the ongoing promotions within the Force reflect reforms and career development initiatives aimed at strengthening capacity, improving motivation, and enhancing service delivery nationwide.
