Ned Nwoko Plans to Challenge Court Decision on Okowa's Senate Bid

Sen. Ned Nwoko, representing APC-Delta, has announced plans to appeal a recent Federal High Court ruling that struck out his lawsuit challenging the APC senatorial candidacy of Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa. This decision was conveyed through a statement issued by his legal team on Monday in Abuja, where Nwoko termed the ruling as unfortunate.

The court's decision to strike out the suit, rather than dismissing it, has given Nwoko confidence that the Court of Appeal will overturn the ruling, prompting him to instruct his counsel to file an appeal immediately.

Nwoko expressed his conviction that the appellate court would overturn the decision, stating "We have instructed our counsel to file an appeal immediately and are confident that the appellate court will overturn it,"

According to Nwoko, the ruling was not based on the substantive merits of the case, which he claimed had yet to be properly heard, and he alleged that the court's decision was unjustified.

The senator noted that the court had previously granted him leave to amend his legal processes, only to set aside the order on its own motion, which he described as an attempt to frustrate the substantive suit at a preliminary stage.

Nwoko stated "This is an attempt to sabotage the substantive suit at this preliminary stage, and it is imperative that the suit be heard on its merits," emphasizing his determination to pursue the appeal.

Despite the setback, Nwoko remains resolute in his pursuit of justice, reiterating his commitment to equity, transparency, party unity, and the overall progress of Delta.
