Ndume praises soldiers for freeing Ngoshe hostages from Boko Haram captivity

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has expressed admiration for the Federal Government and the Joint Task Force's Operation HADIN KAI for their efforts in combating insurgents, resulting in the rescue of some of the 416 abducted individuals, primarily women and children, from Ngoshe village in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists.

In a discussion with journalists in Maiduguri on Saturday, Ndume urged the Borno South Youth Alliance, led by President Samaila Kaigama, to collaborate with security agencies instead of politicizing their claims of mediating between the government and a faction of Boko Haram terrorists to facilitate the safe return of the captives.

Since the abduction occurred, several captives have been rescued, including six individuals who were reunited with their families in the Ngoshe community on May 1st, 2026.

The rescue operation was made possible by sustained offensive actions, including recent air interdiction missions targeting terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains near Amuda, a deserted area between Ngoshe and Gava known for terrorist transit activities.

Ndume, the former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, extended his condolences to the families of six people killed during a Boko Haram invasion of Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area on April 30th, 2026.

He prayed for the eternal rest of the victims' souls and strength for their families to cope with the loss, while also commending the swift response of the troops who repelled the attack.

Ndume emphasized the importance of the Borno South Youth Alliance working with security agencies, stating that as the incident occurred in his hometown of Gwoza, the mediator had attempted to involve him, but he is not a security personnel.

Ndume noted that the latest rescue on May 1st, 2026, brought hope, and he commended the troops for their efforts in rescuing the captives and repelling the attack on Kautikari village.

He prayed for Allah to grant the victims eternal rest and their families the strength to bear the irreparable loss, while commending the swift response of the troops who prevented further devastation in Kautikari.
