NDC primaries nominees who emerge victorious will be required to pay nomination fees, according to Dickson

Sensor Seriake Dickson, the National leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has stipulated that only successful aspirants in the party's primaries will be required to pay nomination fees and complete the necessary documentation.

This decision was made during a joint meeting attended by key party members, including Cleopas Moses, the NDC national chairman, and Peter Obi, the party's presidential aspirant, as well as members of the national working committee and selection committee, as announced by Dickson in a statement shared on X yesterday.

According to the statement, all aspirants who purchased Expression of Interest Forms will be allowed to participate in the primaries, which will take place in their respective constituencies, due to time constraints.

Only those who emerge successful in the primaries will then proceed to the party secretariat to complete their documentation and pay for nomination forms, as outlined in the statement.

The party has assembled teams, comprising senior officials, to oversee the primaries in each state, with the support of local stakeholders and leaders, and Dickson has wished them success in this endeavor.

Dickson emphasized the party's commitment to being women- and youth-friendly, and urged the primary teams to focus on aspirants with a strong potential to win elections.

He also stressed the importance of fairness and transparency, encouraging the teams to collaborate with stakeholders and protect the interests of all aspirants, as the party aims to provide a platform for everyone.

The primaries are scheduled to take place on May 28 and 29, and Dickson reminded aspirants to utilize their expression of interest forms to participate in the exercise.

An appeal panel has also been inaugurated to address any complaints arising from the primaries, as announced by Dickson.

The direct primaries for state assembly positions will be held at the constituency level, while those for the House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and presidential affirmations will take place at local government headquarters.

Dickson, the lawmaker representing Bayelsa west, cautioned aspirants and their supporters against violence, emphasizing the party's zero tolerance for intimidation, threats, and disorderly conduct.

The NDC national leader acknowledged that the party's planned electronic primary system could not be fully implemented due to time limitations, but noted that future primaries would be conducted electronically, stating that this would be the last manual primary election in the NDC.
