Nasarawa State Legislature Approves 37 Legislative Measures, Adjourns Until Further Notice

During the legislative year recess in Lafia on Wednesday, Dr. Danladi Jatau, Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, revealed that the legislative body has enacted 37 bills and adopted 28 resolutions within a three-year period.

The legislative outputs, according to Jatau, have had a direct and significant impact on governance and development in the state, prompting him to commend lawmakers for their cooperation and support since the inauguration of the Seventh Assembly.

Jatau expressed his gratitude to lawmakers, stating that their unity and cooperation have been instrumental in achieving significant milestones, and he thanked them for providing him with maximum support over the years.

In addition to the 37 bills that have been passed, Jatau noted that 33 bills are currently pending before the House, while 28 resolutions have been adopted, further underscoring the legislative body's productivity.

The Speaker praised the cordial working relationship between lawmakers and the executive arm, acknowledging that this synergy has contributed to the state's development achievements under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Jatau also commended opposition lawmakers for their support of the Governor, expressing his appreciation for their role in facilitating the administration's success.

As lawmakers prepared to proceed on recess, Jatau wished them well, acknowledging the hard work and dedication they have exhibited during the legislative year.

A motion to proceed on a five-week recess from June 6 to July 14, 2026, was moved by the Deputy Majority Leader, Abel Yakubu Bala, and seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba.

The motion was unanimously adopted by members, paving the way for the House of Assembly to embark on its scheduled recess.
