Nasarawa police families receive ₦30.8m insurance cheques

The families of deceased police officers in Nasarawa State have received Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident cheques totalling ₦30,845,424.03 from the state Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed.

The cheques were presented to the beneficiaries at the Nasarawa State Police Command, Lafia.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the presentation was aimed at providing financial relief and support to families of police officers who lost their lives in the course of service to the nation.

Presenting the cheques, Mohammed appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, NPM, for the gesture and his continued commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of police officers and their families.

He said the payment demonstrated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to supporting families of officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.

The commissioner advised the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the funds and, where possible, invest in profitable and sustainable businesses that could provide a source of income and improve their standard of living.

He also urged them to manage the funds responsibly, stressing that the gesture should help strengthen the economic wellbeing of their families and secure a better future for their children.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Edith Jacob expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police for the timely intervention and welfare support.

She pledged that the beneficiaries would make good use of the funds.
