Nasarawa North senate seat goes to Envulu-Anza after INEC announces by-election results

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has officially announced Barrister Danladi Halilu Envulu-Anza of the All Progressive Congress, APC, as the winner of the Nasarawa North Senatorial By-Election, with a total of 45,362 votes.

Professor Aminu Ali, the returning officer for the election, made the declaration on Sunday at the College of Education in Akwanga, unveiling the results of the by-election.

Barrister Danladi Halilu of the APC garnered 45,362 votes, while his closest competitor, Hon Labaran Maku of the Labour Party, secured 12,931 votes to take the second position.

Emmanuel David Ombugadu of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, trailed behind with 11,331 votes, further behind were other candidates.

Mohammed Stephen Alaku of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, managed to secure 4,244 votes in the by-election.

Additionally, Arc. Ishaya Dubai Dodo of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, obtained 1,496 votes, as part of the overall results announced by the electoral commission.

Following the announcement, numerous political parties have expressed dissatisfaction with the results and are currently protesting the outcome.
