Narcotics Agency Apprehends 4 Notorious Women Involved in Drug Trafficking Across 4 States

In a significant crackdown, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended four notorious female drug dealers across Edo, Imo, Kano, and Gombe states, dealing a substantial blow to the illicit trade.

Details of the arrests were disclosed by the Director of Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, Mr Femi Babafemi, in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, highlighting the agency's relentless efforts to curb drug trafficking.

A thorough sweep of notorious drug hotspots in Benin City, Edo, by NDLEA operatives on June 2, resulted in the arrest of four key traffickers, including three females, marking a major breakthrough in the agency's campaign against drug abuse.

In the Uyosa area of Benin City, two female suspects were caught with a substantial quantity of illicit substances, including 176 grams of skunk, 65g of Loud, and 5 grams of Methamphetamine, underscoring the agency's ability to track down culprits.

Another female suspect, 21-year-old Anita Abraham, was apprehended along Agbor road in Benin City, with 95 grams of Scottish Loud and 329 grams of regular Loud, further demonstrating the agency's unwavering commitment to curbing the drug menace.

A male suspect was also arrested at Upper Mission, Benin City, with a diverse cache of psychotropic substances, including Loud, Colorado, Swinol, and Methamphetamine, highlighting the agency's tireless efforts to disrupt drug supply chains.

In Kano State, a swift operation by NDLEA operatives on Thursday, June 4, led to the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect, Saifullahi Lawan, at the Kafi area of Madobi, with 40 blocks of skunk weighing a total of 38 kilograms, marking a significant seizure.

In a related development, operatives in Gombe state intercepted a 28-year-old suspect on June 1 near Dantiti Plaza in the Tumfure area of Gombe, who was found to be in possession of 15,000 capsules of tramadol, further emphasizing the agency's commitment to curbing drug abuse.

The War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) social advocacy activities by NDLEA Commands and formations continued unabated across the country in the past week, with the agency intensifying its efforts to create awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

Reacting to the string of successful operations, the NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, commended the officers, men, and women of the Imo, Edo, Kano, and Gombe commands for their resilience and vigilance in the face of daunting challenges.

Marwa also praised their counterparts in all the commands across the country for maintaining a delicate balance between drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts, underscoring the agency's holistic approach to addressing the drug menace.

The NDLEA Chairman reiterated that the agency remains fully committed to dismantling drug supply chains and will continue to target traffickers, regardless of age, gender, or concealment methods, in its unwavering pursuit of a drug-free society.
