Military personnel free 13 abducted individuals, thwart militant activities in Zamfara

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully rescued 13 kidnapped victims and foiled terrorist plans during targeted missions in Zamfara State, specifically in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas.

These operations were executed based on precise intelligence, with Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Military Information Officer, confirming the details of the missions and the outcomes achieved by the troops.

In one such operation, troops from Sector 2 in Bagega received credible information about armed terrorists moving on motorcycles towards Tungan Kudaduku in Anka LGA, prompting swift action.

Utilizing real-time surveillance, the troops pursued and engaged the terrorists, employing superior firepower that forced them to abandon their mission and flee the scene.

A thorough search of the area subsequently led to the discovery of a makeshift terrorist camp, where five kidnapped civilians were found and rescued unharmed.

In a separate operation at Ungwan Rogo, Kaura Namoda LGA, troops acted on reliable intelligence regarding terrorist activity in the area, engaging the terrorists in a fierce firefight upon contact.

The terrorists were forced to retreat in disarray, abandoning their captives, and the troops were able to rescue eight kidnapped victims and recover two vehicles, according to Lieutenant Colonel Danja.

All 13 rescued victims have been handed over to the relevant authorities to receive further care and support, as stated by Danja.

The military spokesman reiterated that troops will continue to maintain control over the area, denying terrorists the freedom to act and sustaining pressure on criminal elements within the theatre of operation.
