On Thursday, the Nigerian Army announced that its troops, who are carrying out Operation Wutan Daji, successfully neutralised at least 10 terrorists during a series of coordinated offensives in Plateau, specifically in Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.
The operations focused on dismantling identified terrorist corridors surrounding Daba and Seri villages, with troops setting up strategic blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and Odare Forest to intercept terrorists travelling by motorcycle.
This tactical move led to a confrontation between the troops and the terrorists, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire that ultimately led to the neutralisation of several terrorists, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.
Following the clash, the troops conducted a thorough search of the area, which yielded the recovery of 10 neutralised terrorists, as well as various combat items.
The recovered items included two motorcycles, 25-litre jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit, one AK-47 rifle, and a magazine loaded with 7.62mm special ammunition, highlighting the scope of the operation.
The Nigerian Army stated that the operation is still ongoing, with its troops maintaining a high level of morale and a sustained offensive posture in the area.
The army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorists and restoring peace to affected communities, underscoring its dedication to achieving this goal.
