MASSOB Urges Global Leaders to Spare Its Fleeing Members from Deportation

The Movement for Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has made a fervent appeal to the international community to refrain from deporting its members who are seeking asylum in various countries around the world.

According to the group, Biafrans are grappling with severe existential challenges in their homeland, including persecutions, killings, arbitrary detentions, and victimization of members in Nigeria, which has driven them to flee to foreign lands.

Instead of deporting its fleeing members, MASSOB has urged foreign nations to provide them with protection and intervene in the Biafra question in Nigeria to ensure their freedom of association and expression, rather than repression.

In a statement released to the press on Friday, MASSOB's National Director of Information, Comrade Samuel Edeson, highlighted that the non-violent self-determination and pro-Biafra agitation movement has existed for over 26 years without any criminal record or arms struggle.

Comrade Edeson condemned the brutal actions of the Nigerian authorities against MASSOB members, emphasizing the group's history of peaceful protests and demonstrations as an advocacy group.

MASSOB has called upon the international community, including the United Nations and other human rights organizations, to intervene and put an end to the harassment and arrests of its members in Nigeria.

The group has also appealed for global intervention to stop the harassment and arrest of members returning to Nigeria, citing the violation of their rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.
