Mark: Kwankwaso's switch to ADC poses danger to democratic system, says APC

Kwankwaso has urged the public to take the 2027 polls seriously, as he joined the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Kano, an event that also saw him make his ADC membership card and PVC a gate pass to his residence.

The National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, asserted that the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, poses the most significant threat to multiparty democracy in the country, during the reception ceremony for Kwankwaso.

Mark emphasized that Kwankwaso's defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, to the ADC was a deliberate response to the call for unity among opposition leaders to protect the country's democracy and resist totalitarian rule.

The event was attended by notable personalities, including David Mark, 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, former National Chairman of APC, Odigie-Oyegun, and former speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.

Other attendees included former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, former SGF, Babachir Lawal, and former Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad, among others.

Mark described the occasion as a defining moment in the history of Nigeria's democracy, marking a special day in the journey to make Nigeria a better and more united nation.

He expressed his vision for a united Nigeria, stating that the country can be better and must work better for all Nigerians, as he welcomed Kwankwaso and his supporters to the ADC.

Mark warned that the APC's attempts to weaken opposition and concentrate power in an individual are a threat to democracy, and that Nigerians must have the right to choose and participate in the democratic process.

The ADC chairman emphasized that the party's goal is to build a nation where leadership is accountable, governance is people-centered, and every voice matters, and called on all Nigerians to join the party in shaping this vision.
