Lebanon Reports Death Toll Now Stands at 634 Fatalities

Mourning has gripped the Christian Lebanese border village of Qlayaa, where residents are paying their respects to Father Pierre al-Rahi, the village's priest, during his funeral on March 11, 2026.

Fighting between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah intensified last week, prompting the Israeli military to issue warnings to people in southern Lebanon to evacuate the area.

In the village of Qlayaa, located farther east, a parish priest succumbed to his injuries on March 9, which were sustained from Israeli tank fire, triggering widespread anger and fear among the locals.

Lebanon has announced that the death toll from 10 days of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has climbed to 634, with over 800,000 people forced to flee their homes.

According to updated figures released by Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine during a press conference, the death toll includes 91 children, while the number of wounded has exceeded 1,500.

Social Affairs Minister Haneen Sayed revealed that the number of displaced individuals who have registered on the ministry's website has reached approximately 816,000, including around 126,000 people taking shelter in collective centers.
