Andrew Tate, a radical social media influencer, and his brother Tristan were taken into custody by the US Marshals Service in Miami on Saturday, as part of Britain's efforts to extradite them to face new charges, including rape, sex trafficking, and assault. The US Marshals Service confirmed the arrest of the 39-year-old Andrew Tate, a self-described misogynist, and his younger brother.

The arrest warrant, however, remains sealed, prompting the US Marshals Service to withhold the specifics of the charges, citing the need to maintain confidentiality. The US news outlet TMZ captured the moment on video, showing law enforcement officers handcuffing the brothers and escorting them into waiting vehicles.

When approached by an onlooker, Tristan Tate declined to comment, as seen in the footage posted on X. The UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) issued a statement confirming the arrest of the Tate brothers by US marshals, revealing that UK prosecutors will be seeking their extradition.

The Tate brothers face a total of 59 charges, with 42 leveled against Andrew and 17 against Tristan, according to British authorities, who announced the updated tally on Sunday. The charges include rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, and offences related to indecent images of a child, as outlined by Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS's Special Crime Division.

McHaffie stated that the CPS has requested the extradition of the Tates from the US, citing new evidence from Bedfordshire Police that brings the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven. The latest developments follow an earlier probe into rape and sexual assault allegations made by women against Andrew Tate between 2014 and 2015, which was reopened by police in Hertfordshire, north of London.

The Tate brothers are also embroiled in separate rape and human trafficking allegations, brought by different women and investigated by Bedfordshire Police, which covers their hometown of Luton, also north of London. Additionally, they face accusations of tax evasion and money laundering in the UK.

Their attorney, Joseph McBride, released a statement asserting the brothers' innocence, expressing confidence that a competent judge will ultimately clear their names once the facts are presented. McBride also criticized the Department of Justice, stating that the Tates will be exonerated once the authority confronts its own "egregious abuse" of power.

The Tates, dual British-US citizens, have been vocal supporters of US President Donald Trump, and in March 2025, the US state of Florida launched a criminal investigation against them, the current status of which remains unclear.
