Law enforcement detains 25 individuals, seizes marijuana and illicit substances during Jos operation

The Plateau State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Bassey Ewah, has cracked down on drug hotspots in Jos, arresting 25 suspects and seizing cannabis, controlled drugs, and other prohibited substances during a coordinated raid on Saturday evening.

The operation, which took place at around 7:55 p.m., focused on areas around Old Airport Junction and Fwavei Junction, known for their notorious links to the sale and distribution of illicit substances, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo.

A joint security team, led by the Officer-in-Charge of the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU), carried out the raid, which involved personnel from various units, including the Anglo-Jos Division, the Anti-Cybercrime and Narcotic Unit, the Monitoring Unit, and the Eagle Eye Patrol Team.

The exercise resulted in the arrest of 25 suspects, as well as the recovery of exhibits such as cannabis, controlled drugs, and other banned substances, which were taken into custody for further investigation.

Ongoing investigations aim to determine the extent of the suspects' involvement and uncover possible links to wider criminal activities, with the Command working to dismantle criminal networks and improve public safety.

CP Bassey Ewah commended the officers who participated in the operation, reaffirming the Command's commitment to combating drug-related crimes across the state through sustained intelligence-led operations and aggressive patrols.

The Commissioner urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, warning that individuals involved in drug trafficking or other criminal activities would face prosecution in accordance with the law.
