LAUTECH denies shutting operations due to rampant armed robbery.

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, in Ogbomoso, has moved to allay fears by denying reports that it has suspended academic activities due to the threat of a bandit invasion, according to a statement issued on Tuesday evening by Olalekan Fadeyi on behalf of the Registrar, Mrs Olayinka Balogun.

This clarification was necessary to counter a rumour that had been circulating, which the university's management described as unfounded, and it called on the public to disregard such claims.

The statement explicitly stated that there is no justification for the university's management to shut down the institution, and as a result, academic activities are ongoing, with students currently taking their examinations.

Furthermore, the university confirmed that the examination exercise is scheduled to continue the following day, underscoring that it is business as usual at LAUTECH.

The management of LAUTECH expressed regret over any inconvenience the rumour may have caused to students, parents, and guardians, emphasizing that the institution remains open.

The rumour may have been triggered by the recent bandit attacks on schools in the Oriire Local Government Area, which occurred last Friday in locations relatively close to the university town.
