Lagos Police arrest 150 suspects, recover 100 motorcycles, firearms in anti-crime raid

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 150 suspects and recovered 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen property and illicit drugs during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in the Igando and Idimu areas of the state.

The operation, conducted under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, targeted criminal hideouts at Boolar, Okofilling Bus Stop, Igando, and other identified black spots within the Area M, Idimu axis.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the operation was carried out at about 5:45 a.m. on Sunday following credible intelligence.

Adebisi said the coordinated raid involved a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the Lagos State Police Command and was aimed at flushing out hoodlums and other criminal elements allegedly terrorising the affected communities.

He said, “As part of the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, the Lagos State Police Command has sustained its aggressive clearance operations against criminal hideouts across the state, in line with the Command’s commitment to ensuring that there is no safe haven for criminals.

“Acting on credible intelligence, a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the Command carried out a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts at Boolar, Okofilling Bus Stop, Igando, and other identified black spots within the Area M, Idimu axis.”

The police spokesman disclosed that exhibits recovered during the operation included 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, one double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, one locally made double-barrel short gun, two military camouflage uniforms, assorted charms, six generators suspected to have been stolen, substances suspected to be Indian hemp and various quantities of illicit drugs.

He added that all the suspects are currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing to determine their individual culpability.
“Those found to have committed criminal offences will be charged to court accordingly,” Adebisi stated.

Commending the operatives for what he described as their professionalism and dedication, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining the anti-crime operation across the state.

According to the statement, the Commissioner stressed that Operation KO S’AYE would continue across Lagos to deny criminals safe haven and ensure the safety and security of residents.

CP Tijani Fatai also appealed to members of the public to support the police with timely and credible information that would assist in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and strengthening public safety across the state.

The Command urged residents to report emergencies or provide useful information through its designated emergency lines.
