Lagos State Government officials have outlined a plan to temporarily reroute traffic at two key locations, specifically the Stadium Flyover Bridge and the Ojuelegba Flyover Bridge near the Fire Station, in order to facilitate the installation of truck barriers.

n

This traffic diversion is set to occur over two nights, from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 a.m., with the first diversion taking place from Saturday, 28th to Sunday, 29th March 2026, and the second from Saturday, 4th to Sunday, 5th April 2026.

n

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, issued a statement on Friday, advising motorists to adhere to designated alternative routes during the truck barrier installation process.

n

Motorists traveling from Eko Bridge/Costain/Iponri towards Ojuelegba/Alhaji Masha Road will be redirected to the service lane via Alaka and the National Stadium gate to connect to Barracks or proceed via Alhaji Masha Road.

n

Alternatively, motorists coming from Eko Bridge via Costain, as well as those from Apapa Road passing through Iponri, are advised to take Iponri Estate Road to link up with Bode Thomas via Adeniran Ogunsanya, ultimately reaching Shitta Roundabout to access their desired destinations.

n

According to Osiyemi, the nighttime closure is a deliberate strategy aimed at minimizing disruptions to traffic flow while ensuring the safe and efficient installation of the truck barriers, and he urged motorists to exercise patience during this period.
